Katrina Messenger, a radical feminist of African, Cherokee & Irish descent, is a refugee from the communist, labor, feminist, and black nationalist movements of old. She now busies herself with revolutions of a more immediate nature - changing herself. A founding member of Dark Flame Coven, she finds inner peace and solace by sharing her hard won lessons with others who care to listen.
Katrina is a DC native with over thirty year's experience as a grassroots activist and community leader. She has taken on leadership roles in almost every group she has joined, including her election to the state presidency of Maryland NOW and later when she served eighteen months as the acting minister for the Sojourner Truth Congregation of Unitarian Universalists. Katrina is a full time mystic, an ordained minister and the founder of the Reflections Mystery School.
Katrina is also a poet, singer/songwriter, author, teacher, speaker and priestess. She has studied mythology, esoteric sciences and human development for over fifteen years. She has published articles in the Reclaiming Quarterly, contributed to the highly successful Twelve Wild Swans, and taught at Reclaiming witch camps from 1997 to 2003. Katrina teaches classes in her local community, actively mentors up and coming leaders and provides logistical support for major political actions and community events.
She is an elder in her community and a recognized leader and teacher worldwide. In 1999 she inaugurated a magical working called Connect DC, to reconnect and heal the city of Washington, DC. Connect DC is committed to healing the city with magic, mystery and celebration, by publicly celebrating the equinoxes and solstices.
In 2001, Katrina successfully launched her own business, Amber Eyes Productions, which provides event management solutions, including an e-commerce based registration system, for individuals, non-profits, community organizations and small businesses such as her own in-house production company, Amber Eyes Presents.
Katrina recently retired from her twenty-five year career in Telecommunications Engineering, Software Development, Applied Research and Internet Architecture. She holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. In 2004, she opened the Reflections Mystery School.

I'm troubled, though, to see the same canards that were used against the ERA back in the day deployed in favour of Prop 8 out here in California. It suggests that those arguments still have traction, and could be used against the ERA all over again.
My own amendment fantasy is similar: I'd like to see a move for an amendment explicitly guaranteeing a right to privacy, creating a solid legal ground for Roe and countless other vulnerable legal decisions.
